The story of Dubai is one of remarkable transformation, a tale of visionary leadership and ambitious development that has turned a small fishing village into one of the world's most iconic cities.

Looking at this city-state today, it’s hard to believe that at the beginning of the 20th century Dubai, which developed around the Creek, was only about 3 km long and 1 km wide.

The seeds of modern Dubai were planted in 1979 with the opening of Jebel Ali port and the Dubai World Trade Centre. In 1985, the launch of Emirates airline marked a significant milestone in Dubai's development, positioning Dubai as a global travel hub and facilitating the growth of its tourism and business sectors.

Throughout the 1990s, Dubai continued to invest heavily in infrastructure and tourism, and the city's skyline began to change dramatically, with numerous skyscrapers and iconic buildings rising from the desert sands.

Featuring iconic buildings like the Burj Al-Arab hotel and of course the Burj Khalifa, currently the world's tallest man-made structure, one can only marvel at the architecture that became the centrepiece of Downtown Dubai.
